Chinese Community Australia is the official name of Chinese Association (CA), the national peak body representing citizens and residents of Chinese background in Australia.

The history of Chinese Community Australia can be traced back to Chinese Students Association which was established on the Bicentennial Australia Day, 26 January 1988 as the first national platform for Chinese students with campus operations at major educational institutions across Australia.

On 8 March 2006, Chinese Students Association (CSA) was endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as the only charitable institution for the Chinese Student Community in Australia.

On 8 August 2008, Beijing Olympic Celebrations, CSA merged with state based community organisations to create the national peak representative body for the Chinese Community: Chinese Association (CA).

Chinese Students Association (CSA) was officially affiliated under Chinese Association (CA) to become the future leadership platform.

On national level, CA is the voice of the Chinese Community for advocacy and lobbying, focusing on five key areas of operations: culture, representation, compliance, welfare and leadership.

On campus level, CA fully supports independent and autonomous CSA operations to provide international student support services and ensure democratic international student representation.

On 12 July 2017, Chinese Elders Association (CEA) was established to represent seniors who are over 60 years of age in the Chinese Community.

For the past 30 years, Chinese Community Australia has been working with all stakeholders: the Multicultural Community, Australian & foreign government agencies, education providers and relevant organisations to build a strong Chinese Community.

To celebrate the Golden Jubilee in 2022, the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Australia, we are even more determined and prepared to play the vital role as the peak representative body to build a stronger Chinese Community in the years ahead.
